From Alice Springs we were picked up by Connections Adventures to do a 5 day tour through the Outback of Australia. Hereby we had to walk in temperatures of 35 to 40 degrees over mountains like the Olgas: Kata Tjuta and other mountains. Very nice to do. On this photo you see Ayers Rock. By the aboriginals (the native inhabitants of Australia) it’s called Uluru. If you see any postcards of Australia most of the time this mountain is shown on them. So we had to see this rock for certain. I’m calling it a mountain right now, but actually it’s a very big rock that runs far underground in the Outback. We were standing here just before sunset. On this photo you see Ayers Rock at a distance. The rock gets its red color by the metals that are in the ground and they rust. When the sun sets the color of the rock changed by the way the light hit the rock’s surface. During this natural phenomena we enjoyed some drinks and snacks. A good way to end the day!
